Company 5 was alerted on Tuesday the 23rd around 00:15 hours for a vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer. Reports were being taken that the truck had jack knifed and the truck was partially blocking the road in the area of the 115mm of Interstate 80. Rescue, Command, and Assistant 5 arrived on scene confirming the report. Icy conditions from a weather front moving through the area had also caused several other accidents westbound. Company 5 members controlled fluids from the accident and assisted Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania State Police with traffic control until a salt truck was able to hit the icy areas. Squad 5, and (Penfield) Attack 41 also assisted with traffic control in the area of the 111 Exit. Units operated for 6 hours before clearing the scene.
