On April 18th , Company 5 was alerted for an outside fire located at 1661 Matin Street Extension known as Novey Metals. Engine 5 responded arriving on scene to find a large pile of scrap items on fire. Due to the size and materials burning additional resources were requested. Crews operated on scene for over 3 hours. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. During this incident Sykesville Squad 8 transferred to Lawrence Township to cover priority calls. Thank you to them for their assistance.
