On December 7th at 04:42 hrs, company 5 was dispatched as the second due engine for a reported building fire with possible people trapped in Company 1’s area. Upon arrival of engine 5 they established a water supply from a nearby hydrant. Crews began a primary search of the apartments upstairs and determined the occupants that reside there were not inside. Once fire was knocked down crews remained on scene for a few hours to assist in extensive overhaul.
After returning to the firehouse crews were cleaning equipment when they were then alerted for a automatic fire alarm at Mountain Laurel Nursing home. Upon arrival they confirmed alarm was activated due to a malfunction with a water flow switch. Crews investigated and found no fire conditions and the incident was then turned over to maintenance.
