On May 4th, 2017 at approximately 10:15pm Company 5 was alerted for a structure fire at the address of 700 Leonard Street; Mountain Laurel Nursing Home. Prior to crews arriving reports indicated smoke and flames visible from a electrical heater in the ceiling. Once crews arrived on scene they found the fire extinguished by nursing home staff  who used a nearby fire extinguisher. Crews checked for hot spots, determining an electrial malfunction as the cause of ignition. Crews operated on scene for approximately 45 minutes.
