Completed in 2025, Rescue 5 is a Pierce PUC rescue unit equipped with a six-person cab, a 2,000 GPM pump, a 500-gallon water tank, and a 550 HP engine. The apparatus features a total of thirteen (13) Roll-O-Matic roll-up compartment doors. It carries ten (10) Hurst hydraulic rescue tools, one (1) RHYNO windshield cutter kit, and one (1) DeWALT battery-powered tool kit.
This unit functions as the first-due rescue for the surrounding Clearfield County area and provides coverage along Interstate 80 in both the eastbound and westbound directions from mile marker 121 to mile marker 107.9.
Rescue 5 is outfitted with both high-pressure and low-pressure airbag systems, a 15 kW generator with an extendable LED light tower, and full perimeter scene lighting. Additional equipment includes five (5) MSA SCBA jump-seat packs, a 10-ton WARN winch mounted in the front bumper, a built-in cascade air system, a roll-out canopy, a Stokes basket, and a wide assortment of hand tools. The unit is also equipped with a rope rescue kit, Stihl chainsaws and rotary saws, and other specialized rescue equipment.
Rescue 5 is Pennsylvania Department of Health certified as a Quick Response Service (QRS) unit, allowing it to provide advanced medical response in support of EMS operations.
