On July 29th, Company 5  was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident along Interstate 80 near the 109 mile marker westbound. Initial reports indicated a single vehicle into the rear of a tractor trailer. Rescue and Engine 5 arrived on scene to find the driver of the vehicle self extricated.  He was flown from the scene with via medical aircraft with extensive injuries. Interstate 80 westbound was backlogged for an extended period of time. Crews conducted traffic control until towing could arrive on scene.
