On 05/23/26 members participated in the annual six-hour Hazardous Materials Operations refresher course, led by instructor Ethan Fritz. The Hazardous Materials Refresher is an annual mandatory training requirement for first responders, including firefighters, EMS personnel, and police officers, to safely identify, manage, and mitigate hazardous substances. Following a brief presentation and discussion, members engaged in a practical exercise, setting up a decontamination line in response to a simulated hazardous spill. With numerous hazardous materials transported through our area on Interstate 80 daily, it is essential for our members to be adequately prepared. We extend our gratitude to instructor Fritz for dedicating his time to lead the training session during his holiday weekend.
