On March 17th, Company 5 was alerted to assist LeContes Mills Fire Company 21 with a house fire on the Gillingham Rd, Girard Township. As units were checking enroute, 911 advised that the caller was reporting flames showing from the kitchen area. First units on scene advised that everyone was out of the structure. Engine 5 arrived and crews went to work with an interior attack. After the bulk of the fire was knocked down, crews from several depts worked several hours to overhaul the fire. Unfortunately, several animals perished in the fire due to smoke inhalation. Our condolences go out to the family and anyone affected by this tragic loss.
